Reigning Sabalenka Wins Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Accolades.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive season.
The 27-year-old secured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – which included successfully defending the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles title.
A Year of Dominance
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine finals, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The star player also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the whole season as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Historic Numbers
Sabalenka finished the season with a 63-12 match record, and picked up a record eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.
She earned almost eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.
Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a higher level".
