Eulogies Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt prepared to share openly about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can now articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started spending more time together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor shared never-before-seen clips from the production, commenting that he could not remember "one day without laughter".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles judge decided to prevent the disclosure of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate issued a restriction on the investigation to limit the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" connected to the active case.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the result of homicide, with a public database citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the killings, public individuals offered varying comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, offering provocative statements that were broadly criticized by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the those speaking out last week. Conversing on his show, Rogan described the statements as "shocking" and implied they showed a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an associate could have acted when the decision to speak on the death was made.
