Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two dear friends.”
The news of his discharge follows the boxing community had expressed sympathy for the champion in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
